Local gallery in Sutton

Direct Art Action - Victoria Worrall

We went to Direct Art Action in Sutton Coldfield and we looked around the whole gallery. We analysed 2 pieces of work from two different artists after this we interviewed the curator there and asked him about his work and why he decided to open the art gallery. We went on the Thursday 7th of November 2019.

We got there and we looked around the place for 30 mins and looked at all the different types of art, and then we re-grouped as a group and decided which two pieces of art we were going to analyse. Then we sat down at the tables provided and wrote about the art pieces and spoke to the curator. I have been to the art gallery in town but I have never analysed some pieces of part work before. I expected the gallery to be a lot bigger than it was I thought it was going to be two storeys and be full with loads of art work and have loads of people there to talk to about their work. They have an upstairs but it’s used for art classes and workshops.

The art work was spaced out well and the curator we spoke to gave us a lot of information and was very nice.It was too cold in there and there were some gaps in the art work as some work was changing over. Some work had tiny descriptions to go with the art work and I would have preferred more information because this was useful.
