Birmingham Cake International

Review of exhibition

Birmingham Cake International

Part C2 Exhibition/show Date: 02/11/2018:  Birmingham Exhibition

What was the title of the exhibition/show?

Cake international

Why did you choose to attend this exhibition/show?

To learn more about sugarcraft and to see other peoples work.

Who were the artists and what do they create?

I saw christine and phil from Extreme Cake Makers.  They make a sticky toffee cake with buttercream and a toffee sauce.  It was delicious.  I saw Rosie and Ben from Extreme Cake Makers too.

What did you see?

I saw a cake of Megan and Harry and a cake of the trapeze artist from The Greatest Showman and lots more amazing things.

What were your first impressions

My first impressions were it was very busy.  The first thing I saw was the Trapeze artist.  I thought this was amazing and it was good to have this at the entrance as it was really impressive.  I thought the layout of the stands was more spacious than the London Cake and Bake Show. This was better. I thought the stages that had demonstrations were too near each other because when I was listening to one demonstration I could hear people clapping at the other stage.

Did you find anything particularly interesting to your personally?

yes I found the Phil and Christine demonstration very interesting because they showed us how to make a cake and it tasted delicious.

What did you learn which will help you to achieve your challenge?

I learnt how to make an elf and a teddy bear which was very fun.  I saw lots of cakes that can help give me ideas for when I put a cake into an exhibition.

Overall I would recommend ~Cake International for anyone who likes cakes and sugarcraft.  Some people were disappointed because some cakes were closed off for judging, so you couldn’t see them all, so Saturday or Sunday may be better when the judging is over.

I learnt how to make an elf and a bear. my tip would be to put a bit of water on the sugar paste to stick it to together.
