Graduation is 6 months and many deadlines away. It cannot come round soon enough but at the same time is whizzing towards me at an uncomfortably rapid speed.

Art is all about opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. But because of this, we as artists invest so much of ourselves into our work and to show that to the world can make you feel exposed and vulnerable. It's often hard to trust your opinion, that what you're creating is of a high quality, and it takes guts to share that work with others.

With a specific focus on the backstage theatre industry, is being a multi-skilled practitioner a help or a hindrance within the industry today? Can someone market themselves as having skills in multiple departments? And how important is it for someone who has chosen to specialise to have a knowledge of other departments?

Can technical skill and creative freedom really both be found in the same place?

This second blog instalment comes to you from a teal blue portacabin-box-office outside venue 13, at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

And we're off! 8 first year stage management students, 1 masters student, and a few 'responsible adults' packed across a couple of vans on a long old drive across borders from Wales to Scotland. And so begins my experience of this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
