Having wracked my brain for a way to enhance some art skill that I possess for my Gold Arts Award, I decided to improve my qualities as a dancer. Normally consigned to performing and learning choreography from a dance captain or dance teacher quickly, I have decided to try my hand at teaching myself. Furthermore, I will also attempt to create a piece of choreography to teach, with a range of dance styles to suit the range of abilities. Of course, this mountainous task cannot be tackled alone; I will be joined by my co-captain Alex Hart. Together we will teach 26 girls a medley of three songs, three dances and prepare them for our upcoming Dance and Drama Showcase. This will entail not just choreographing dances, but also teaching these to the girls, organising the structure of the piece, the soundtrack, the costumes (fashion being something I have no talent in) and finally creating a neat and hopefully wowing performance. Being at the start of this plan, it looks like success is far away and fleeting, but hopefully the course will run smoothly, my dance skills and indeed, teaching skills will improve, and I will create an exciting dance number.
Gold Arts Award: Unit 1: Part A: Beginning (Step 1)
A brief outline of the plan to further my skills as a dancer, taking advantage of the opportunity given to me by the Gold Arts Award. I will strive to enhance my skills in the field of choreography and teaching by training 26 girls with one co-captain and coordinating them so that they will be able to perform a medley in an organised Dance and Drama Showcase in February
This sounds like a great opportunity! Are you looking for experienced dancers, or can anyone join? How are you going to document your process?
