A review of a virtual tour of London ComicCon 2019

What was the title of the event?

London Film and Comic Con Virtual tour 2019

Why did you choose to attend this event?

I really wanted to attend the Bristol Comic Con and Gaming festival in October but because of Covid it has been cancelled so I attended a virtual Comic Con exhibition of last year's event in London. At this exhibition they have Comic Con artists and their work on display. They had My Hero Academia actors attending and I really wanted to see what they said, and were like in person. They have Artist Alley which is where I can see lots of different manga and anime, meet the artists, see their drawings  and get ideas for my own anime and manga in the future.

When did you go?

I attended a virtual tour due to covid

Where was the event held?

London, over 3 days in Olympia.

What did you see?

I saw stalls full of merchandise, people dressed up in cosplay, an artist alley where there were lots of different artists and their art on show.  There was a big stage where they did performances..

Who were the artists and what do they create?

There were lots of artists there. An example of one is Sonia Leong who is a famous comic artist and also does books on how to draw manga. David Lloyd was also there who is a comics artist too.

What were your first impressions?

It was busier than I thought it would be. I was surprised to see so many people there. I was really surprised to see so many people dressed up and happy too because it made me realise other people apart from me like to do cosplay as not many of my friends enjoy it. I was surprised to see how many artists were there.

Did you find anything particularly interesting to you personally?

Artist Alley was my favourite part. This is where lots of artists show off their work. I particularly enjoyed Sonia Leong’s work and would like to have a go at trying some of her drawings myself.

What did you learn?

I learnt that one day I may be able to have a stall myself if I'm very lucky, I thought it was just for famous artists.

Did it make you think about any art form differently?

I realised I wanted to have a go at other forms of art other than anime. An artist was painting a self portrait using water colours and I thought it was brilliant. The colours she used were so life like and it made me want to have a go at water colours too.

Did you enjoy the experience overall? Why?

Yes I loved it. I really want to go to the one next year. It made me happy artists love doing what I do too.

Proof I attended the event

Excellent review, loved how it made you want to try water colours. I could almost have been there in artists alley myself. Great to see an artist who loves art for art itself!
Am sure we will see you there soon.

A very well thought out and composed review, clearly from someone with a keen interest in this subject. How very refreshing to see someone relatively young to this discipline, show so much enthusiasm and zest for art. I too am particularly interested in anime, but would also like to expand my interest to other types of art.

Thank you for your review Millie - you have inspired me to seek out new art forms myself. Keep up the good work and would be great to see you at the ComicCon next year!
