Interview with Strawberry Siren

Strawberry Siren takes some time to talk to Voice about the show, inspirations, and to give advice to young people.

Interview with Strawberry Siren

Could you first introduce yourself to the reader?

My name is Strawberry Siren

How would you describe your show?

My show is an interactive comedy show that teaches people about vulva masturbation and play.

Why do you want to perform at Edinburgh Festival Fringe?

Because it's the largest Fringe Festival in the world and I live for Fringe!

What differentiates it from other festivals?

It's scale and diversity.

What first motivated you to enter the industry? Who were your inspirations?

I started in the performing world at age 11 when I joined the circus, so for me it's been a life long career. I'm not sure there was anyone in particular that inspired me? I just knew I wanted to be on stage.

If you didn't have your current job, what would you probably be doing?

Sleeping

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

Exactly what I'm doing now….. but with double the money!

What is your earliest childhood art memory?

I won a colouring in competition when I was 6, it was a picture of a Teddy Bears picnic.

Do you ever feel any pressure to be a social commentator, or constantly update material to respond to events?

Not really? I just focus on what makes me happy and celebrate positive people and experiences in my life.

Equally, do you think there has been a shift in public sentiment that has affected your work?

There has definitely been a shift in people's attitudes towards female sexual pleasure and desire. There's definitely a reason that Pussy Play has come to fruition now and not 5 or 10 years ago.

Describe the last year in 5 words or less?

Can I sleep now?

If you could work with anybody, from any point in history, who would you pick and why?

Britney Spears…… (No explanation needed)

Why would a performer opt to do either a ticketed event or participate in the free fringe? What are the benefits and limitations of both?

It all comes down to money….. How you wanna make it and where you wanna spend it.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to take a show up to the fringe?

Make as many friends as you can

When and where can people see your show?

10:45pm at the Gilded Balloon Teviot

And where can people find, follow and like you online?

Pussy Play Masterclass is performing at The Gilded Balloon at 22:45 on 4th - 26th (not 9th 16th 23rd). For tickets and more information visit the Ed Fringe website.
