Online Shop founding team hopes to bring MMORPG's back to the mainstream

The team behind Online Shop, an online shop hosting platform is embarking on a 'passion project' to bring MMORPG video games (massive multiplayer online role playing games) into the mainstream once again.

Terry McGinnis, Siraaj Ahmed, Carlos Sanchez and Jakub Lenski of Ecom Pilot are hoping to bank on 'rose coloured nostalgia' glasses by creating a new game titled 'Babylon'. The game is set in 7th century and will allow players to explore Europe, China, Egypt and South Asia.

Executive Producer Carlos Sanchez hopes that the game will bring back the enjoyment of MMORPG games via it's retro style and gameplay mechanics.

Explore the world of Babylon, a classic MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) that puts you in a world of 7th Century AD Europe, China, Egypt and South-East Asia.

The game will allow players to create group parties, join guilds, unions and even academies to explore the world of Babylon, a game using an old MMORPG game engine from South Korean developers.

"We're using an existing engine, game mechanics and style to bring players to the ancient world. We're starting with existing mechanics, a dedicated server and will slowly update and change the overall game - keeping the retro look. It's something we're doing for fun, to bring back the MMORPG's we grew up with, and build a community to play with us."

The game will allow players to choose from two classes and explore the rich ancient world to level up to master fighting abilities, use alchemy to improve weaponry and armory to become the best Babylon player. The game will allow free exploration of trade cities, historical landmarks, dungeons and special locations that will enthral players to discover more and keep exploring the vastness of Babylon.

The game is in post-production and will be releasing by end of April 2023.
