Online Drama Festival, NDSF is open for all

The National Student Drama Festival, founded in 1959 by the Sunday Times arts columnist Kenneth Pearson, is a free event held from the 27 March - 2 April 2021 for anyone aged 16-25 that has an interest in theatre.

The free festival offers 14 new pieces of work, debates, discussions and evening events. There are also masterclasses with Katy Brand, Josh O'Connor, Ben Miller, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and many more.

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures – a special daily collaboration – will be featured at the festival this year, with a movement class led by the company’s dance artists inspired by his distinct storytelling narrative style. There will also be coverage by the NDSF Noises Off Magazine will take place throughout the week.

NSDF aims to encourage and celebrate the best and brightest students in theatre in the UK, and prides itself on making the arts accessible to everyone regardless of their educational background.

“Today we offer a platform where young people, regardless of whether they’re in education or not, can come together and celebrate the power of performance,” the NSDF board exclaimed.

The annual festival will be held digitally due to the pandemic, so despite maybe never having met in person, companies of brilliant young people still get an opportunity to collaborate.
