Role Responsibility
The Production Apprentice Scheme is a 12-month scheme which combines placements in the workplace - embedded in our production teams across a wide range of TV, radio and online output - with college study and bespoke training from the BBC Academy.Providing an excellent practical understanding of television, radio and online production processes, this apprenticeship will equip you with knowledge and experience that will place you well for applying for future production contracts.
Following an initial training period, you will then work in a production team on a placement / range of placements, with training at regular intervals in-between. Over the course of the year you will build a solid foundation of core production skills and also have the chance to specialise in one of three production areas: Production Management; Craft Skills or Editorial.
The BBC Academy is working with a London college to develop best-in-class courses to give apprentices a world-class foundation in production. This is a year-long programme where you will get to work on a range of content in the BBC, while studying towards a Level 3 apprenticeship.
The Ideal Candidate
The 2017 Production Apprentice Scheme is looking for applications from talented, creative people with fresh, new perspectives and ideas to join our programme-making and multi-platform teams. This scheme is an entry-level scheme aimed at those people with a maximum academic qualification of A-levels or equivalent.
We will be looking for people who :
- Are passionate about wanting to produce content for TV, Radio and online – whether that's in a Creative, Production Management or Craft Skills role
- Will offer a new perspective to the BBC that will help us reflect our audiences better
- Have a positive, 'can-do' attitude and are prepared to work unpredictable hours
- To be eligible for this scheme you must be aged 18 or over and not have or be working towards a qualification higher than a level 3 or A level (including HND, level 4 BTEC, degree etc) by the time course starts in September 2017.
- No qualifications are needed – we are much more interested in your attitude
You do not need previous media experience, but the ability to demonstrate a keen and active interest in content, audiences (at the BBC and other broadcasters) and the media industry is a must.
Package Description
A 12 month fixed-term contract paying £12,500 per year plus an additional allowance of £4,560 for those working in London.
