Her feature-length visual album, Lemonade, has spawned a huge nine nominations. Following behind are Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West with eight each, Chance the Rapper gets seven in his first year nominated, and then Adele's juggernaut album with five. There are some surprises. Justin Bieber has been nominated for Album of the Year. Mike Posner's summer hit, I Took A Pill In Ibiza got one for Song of the Year despite only being successful as a remix. Adele didn't get recognised in the Music Video category. Stranger Things has two nominations for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media as the Netflix hit spawned two soundtrack albums. David Bowie's globally acclaimed final album has numerous nominations but not one in the main categories of Album, Record, or Song.
Beyoncé has been nominated for Best Rock Song for her bluesy collaboration with Jack White and her little sister also take a nomination on the list for Best R&B Performance. No recognition for Frank Ocean, at all. The Grammys has recognised new, young talent widely in the most popular categories with numerous nominations for Lukas Graham's 7 Years, The Chainsmokers' Don't Let Me Down, and Twenty One Pilots' Heathens and Stressed Out. Rihanna and Drake's collaboration gets recognition for Bajan dancehall shoutout Work. Among all of his nominations, there isn't one for his latest album's big hitter, One Dance. Sia also finally gets major recognition with nominations for her latest popular album This Is Acting.
