My Papier Mache Elephant

How to make a papier mache elephant.

My Papier Mache Elephant

For Part A of my Bronze Art Award, I made a papier mache elephant. I am going to do a step-by-step guide of how to make one.

Step 1: First of all you need to make sure you have the right equipment. The things you will need are: flour, water, a balloon and some newspaper. With the flour you mix it in with water until it is white/yellow.

Step 2: Start putting newspaper on the balloon. To make it stick you have to dip it in the paste then smooth it onto the balloon. Once you have done one strip, do more until it is full. To make it even better you can layer up the pieces of newspaper so when it dries you get a more solid figure. You will need to do 2 of these to make the head and body.90e3465c3cc022046b398b6c061cb0c954a11a2d.jpg

Step 3: Once you have put all the newspaper on that you want you need to wait 1-3 days for it to dry.

Step 4: Once it is dry you can add decoration like bottle tops for eyes, a straw for a trunk or tail and you can paint it any colour you want it to be. You could make an abstract elephant 0924cfaa3a7cd89cd0e3c30a632adecd2aab0be6.jpgor the classic grey one.
