The program will provide the intern new knowledge of contemporary art and behind-the-scenes insight into the work of a London Art gallery who produce, plan, and present the exhibitions, performances and programs. The Intern will explore several areas of a gallery organization by assisting staff members with projects related to curatorial, gallery management, development, and administrative work.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Projects will include learning the daily operations of a gallery by interacting with visitors, tracking attendance records, and learning how to maintain the exhibitions and gallery. The Intern will contribute to the Gallery rosenfeld social media by writing and editing posts.
The Intern will participate in staff meeting by thinking critically, discussing ideas with the group, and leading the group discussion. The Intern will work with visiting artists and assist the staff with development, curatorial/research and other administrative projects. The Intern will report to their supervisor as requested and will assist the staff with gallery openings or other scheduled program events.
STUDENT QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Strong background in art history, studio art, or literature and a devoted interest in contemporary art, issues, and visual culture; great writing and research skills; ability to verbally communicate in an efficient manner; ability to interact with diverse populations with respect; excellent time management skills; ability to work individually and with a team; accountability; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; fluency in English.
Job Requirements
The work schedule will be Tuesday - Saturday, starting October 2023.
Hours are flexible but 22/week. Daily hours may shift to include weeknight events or weekend programs, all which will be scheduled in advance. Some travel to local galleries/stores for the delivery of promotional materials may be requested.
