Norfolk Museums are offering 4 traineeships which may be a stepping-stone into the world of heritage and museums. 

Museum Trainee

These posts are offered on a 12-month fixed term contract from April 2023 at a salary of £21,575. Trainees will learn about the range of jobs available in museums including collections, object handling, documentation, formal and informal learning, interpretation, communications and how to bring objects and stories to life for visitors, through displays, events and social media. These traineeships combine a job with training delivered by museum professionals who are experts in their field.

Job Requirements

You will be qualified to a minimum of https://www.gov.uk/what-different-qualification-levels-mean/list-of-qualification-levels - level 2 but higher qualifications are not essential for these roles. You will have experience of delivering excellent customer service in a public facing role. Museum experience is NOT required and there is no upper age limit. You will be supported to carry out the responsibilities of the post and you will leave at the end of the programme equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience to pursue a career in the museum sector.

We want to appoint a cohort of trainees who will never stop learning and are enthusiastic about what museums can be and do. We want to hear from you if you have an inquisitive mind and lots of ideas, if you can act with integrity, and have the enthusiasm and understanding to make every visitor feel valued.

Job Responsibilities

To undertake a developmental role within the museums service, enhancing the visitor experience and increasing access to museums collections.
