Arts Award Movers and shakers: Ginny Scholey

What are you doing now?

I work part time as the Regional Development Manager for the Arts Award within CapeUK, the Arts Councils Bridge organisation. I am also a freelance consultant, sometimes working within the North West supporting the Arts Award. I am also developing a business, supporting group work skills with students, with a focus on cultural understanding.

When and how did you get involved with Arts Award?

I first became involved 10 years ago, I encouraged Cape to apply to be a regional agency for the Arts Award as I thought it sounded a great programme.

Has it had an impact on your own career?

It has allowed me to draw on previous skills and my experience of working with a wide range of young people and the adults who support them. I have enjoyed being in a role that allows me to be creative, where every week brings something new, it is never dull. Arts Award has had a real impact on me as a person, providing opportunities to work in different ways and with a wide range of people.

What do you think is special about Arts Award?

Its flexibility. It can work with such a wide range of people and can be delivered in a variety of models to suit the organisation and young person's needs. It really supports young people to develop their potential, stretching and challenging them in a meaningful and enjoyable way

Where would you like to see Arts Award go in the next 10 years?

I would like all young people to be able to access the Arts Award and to be able to progress through all the levels if they want to.

Have you got a message for young people doing Arts Award now?

Enjoy it, let your imagination go wild!
