Following a trailblazing performance at Paper Dress Vintage and the release of infectious disco-pop gem ‘Catch Me If You Can’, NADIA made a stunning return to the spotlight supporting Lyra at Omeara, London on her UK tour. There’s a reason why she’s been tipped as one-to-watch in the dance-pop world - and we got to see it for ourselves.
NADIA is nothing short of a magnetic presence, who emerged as a vision of red under the luminescent lights of the iconic venue. There were no signs that this was only her second live performance in the capital - stricken by her engaging confidence, the crowd was completely immersed in this passionate collective of songs. Fans of Lyra will inevitably be taken under NADIA’s wing, who she additionally supported at Deaf Institute (Manchester), The Globe (Cardiff) and King Tuts (Glasgow).
Having heard each impressive release single-by-single, experiencing NADIA’s radiant discography in its entirety was nothing short of wonderful. ‘Push The Button’ ignited an electrifying atmosphere with its uptempo energy and 90s club anthemics, whilst the darker, introspective elements of ‘Buzz’ painted a hypnotic portrait of city life, enchanting the audience in equal measure.
NADIA has seemingly adopted a signature sound, led by her gorgeous vocal animosity. Rising to mesmerizing heights, these live renditions elevate the infectious energy of the recordings, breathing a new life into her renowned brand of neo-soul. The word ‘soulful’ certainly sprung to mind throughout - her emotive delivery is unforgettable.
A set highlight was the celebratory soundscapes of ‘Catch Me If You Can’, which evokes the nostalgia of disco classics in a unique, modern form. I was swept away by NADIA’s performance, and soon, many others will be too.
