"Victoria paints with gusto. Dancers is, aptly, a painting full of life and movement. Two figures in hold move through a rainfall of blue, emerging impressionistically from the backdrop that merges with the highlights and trim of their clothing. I wonder what the occasion is, what kind of music they are dancing too. The pair almost seem to be preparing for a lift, with the woman's arm across the leader's shoulder. Perhaps, judging by the hint of a suit and tie, and the white of the woman's dress, I'm looking at the first dance of a wedding. I cannot say for sure, and the painting withholds the detail - faces, surroundings, context - to focus on a moment of intimacy. The rest is left to the imagination. A joyful and decorative art piece." |
About the author
How long have you been practising this artform, and what first attracted you to it?
I took up art in 2018, just a hobby to earn a little extra money. I did fine Portraits of pets mainly and quickly realised I had a bit of a natural eye for it. I of course wanted to find my own style and always loved the female form. It took me nearly 3 years to find it...
How did you get started? Was there anything that you found particularly helpful?
My inspiration is me! My own life's journey. A lot of my paintings are stories of me, in a way my therapy, my journal.
What advice would you give to someone looking to pick up the same artform?
Just make a start, no matter how small and don't look at the whole staircase, just the next step. We are all artistic, our only obstacle is in our mind and the belief that we are not.
Is there an achievement that you're particularly proud of?
Sold artwork on my worldwide platform, to Denmark. Also to the states. My three week solo exhibition I just finished, my first of many I hope.
