Heritage Quay at the University of Huddersfield is home to a unique and internationally important collection of archives. As well as documents like 100 year old passports and a series of colourful Rugby League Cup Final tickets spanning 60 years, we’ve artefacts such as Fabrics of India sample books from the 1860s, and a range of vintage rugby and cricket equipment.

The archives have been the inspiration for students of all ages. As well as school workshops including clay, lino printing and drawing activities, primary school children take part in the Big Draw at Heritage Quay where they used a range of techniques to respond to photographs and sound recordings. The Cricket Balls and the Mountains was an installation piece created by a University art student and inspired by our sports collection – see it here www.eleanorfriston.co.uk.

Heritage Quay is excited to become an Arts Award Supporter and open up our collections to artists as a source of inspiration and creation. Please email [email protected] to find out more.
