A night full of music

17/02/18.Wow what a night, a live concert that showcased the guitar and voices of individuals and bands. Every year in Bishop Stortford, St. Michaels Mead community centre, my sister’s guitar teacher organises a concert that showcases his student’s talent. Throughout the night there are solo and group performances and this year is the 4th year that I have attended the concert. The age of the performers ranged from 7 to 78 years old. The concert   is predominately dominated by boys. The genres ranged from rock to country to pop, also there were 3 original songs included in the line-up.The concert started with a group performance of Riptide by Vance Joy, it was a great rousing start to the show. Everyone’s tone of voices really complimented one another through the performance but my only criticism is that a bit more practice could have been done to make sure everyone comes in at the same time, however, in my opinion they did amazingly well despite only having rehearsed together for 15 minutes due to limited resources. The solo performances were one of the many highlight of the show, they all had unique voices, and made the songs their own.Despite the tiniest of mistakes made by a few performers, they carried on and it seemed as if nothing had happened and that was my favourite bit, they carried on and persevered.Lots of different levels of guitar came on stage from only months of learning to eight years. As well as covers, many original songs were performed, these made the show have a lot more of a connecting touch between the artists songs and their audience. So, what was my favourite bit? Well the finale song “rock 'n' roll star” by Oasis, it was a fun uplifting song that obviously everyone enjoyed, the performers transformed into their inner rock stars. So over all of course, I would recommend seeing this concert, it was as if you got 50 things from the price of 1, the performances were so diverse, at one point you would be rocking out to a version of Oasis “rock 'n' roll star” to being memorised by a melodic lullaby called ‘Golden Slumbers ‘by the Beatles And I learnt you must carry on and that is the thing that makes you look strong, I also learnt how versatile the guitar is and in addition I learnt as long as you do your best you should just go out there and be you!I think they did the best they could and it paid off!

Hi Ciara! We recommend adding a picture to your article as it will complement your text and provide a thumbnail in the list view.

It sounds like a wonderful evening! Were there any performers that stood out to you? Was it mostly electric guitars or did they play acoustic as well?
