What was the title of the exhibition/show?
Southampton Art Gallery - David Baker.
Why did you choose to attend this exhibition/show?
It was a free exhibition in the Southampton Art Gallery, it was suggested by our photography teacher and it looked interesting.
What did you see?
I saw lots of nature, trees and photographs of the outdoors . There was a lot of mist in the photos.
Who were the artists and what do they create?
David Baker - the exhibition was 4 years worth of photography documenting Southampton Common. He spent time documenting the space in the early hours of the morning, he focused on; paths, open spaces, water, woodland and graveyards.
What were your first impressions?
My first impressions was that it was rather small and not many photographs in the exhibition. The photographs I did see where very impressive and beautiful.
Did you find anything particularly interesting to you personally?
I really liked the photo of all the various shades of greens the trees and the mist in the background which gave it a look of mystery. I liked this photo because it was of nature and I love taking photos of nature and landscape.
What did you learn? Did it make you think about any art form differently?
I learnt that everyone has different tastes in photography and uses different styles to achieve a photograph. Yes it did make me think differently, taking photographs in mist creates an atmosphere in photos. Using water, to create photos with reflections makes a great image.
Did you enjoy the experience overall? Why?
Yes I did enjoy it as it made me think more about how I could make my photographs different to other peoples by using different times of day to create different lighting effects and atmosphere in my photos
Hi Bryony, I'm sure you had a lovely time, but could possibly add more to this please?
