Visit to see SWSO

This is a review of when I went to see the Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra on Sunday the 11th February 2018 at 15:00.

Visit to see SWSO

It was a cold raining Sunday afternoon and the concert I was going to see would hopefully warm my heart. When I got there it was very hard for my dad to park the car near the venue, as it was very busy. We eventually found a space that was approximately 100m from the auditorium. When I got there I went to the toilet and they were very clean and tidy. There were lots of entrances into the venue and it was a bit confusing which door to go into, but a steward helped us. When I got to my seat I was amazed by how many people there were inside, I guessed about 300-400 people were in the auditorium.

The orchestra came on stage followed by the lead violinist and finally the conductor. The orchestra started playing and the acoustics of the building were great with no echo. The orchestra sounded amazing. The songs I preferred were those that I was familiar with i.e. The Pink Panther, Raiders of the Lost Ark from Indiana Jones, Wallace and Gromit theme tune and songs from Star Wars. My mums favourite song was Married Life from the film Up.

At the interval I went to get a drink, but the queue was long. At the end the audience were about to leave when the conductor came back on and the orchestra did an encore. The song they selected was from Lawrence of Arabia. Overall I thought it was a good day out except that it went on slightly too long for me it lasted for about 2-3hrs and the seats were a bit uncomfortable. I would definitely recommend the venue and the orchestra to others.
