Little Mix - Power Ft Stormzy - My Review
The Plot
Little Mix are first pictured in some very revealing outfits in a setting of america - Probably New York. Each time one member sings they are showing a big part of their personality. They are dressed very colourfully and strong. Perrie scene has many colours and is quite hippy and she is pictured with bright letters that say girl power on the VW van behind her. leigh-annes part is more of a street girl who is popular and has a guard to protect which are her group of friends and a dog. Jesy's scene is as cool biker chick who has a biker gang of girls. Jade is pictured with drag queens coming out of a club with a lot of sparkle and over the top make up and clothes. The video breaks into a really good dance scene showing their individual dancing skills and voices. All the girls come together at the end with in a big march with lots of women. Stormzy is then pictured and he performs a rap
The message
The video is all about girl-power and that all women are great no matter what kind of person they are and what they wear. It features bright colours, it is flashy and bold, but the girls also seem approachable and girl-next door-like. They are also Sexy, powerful and I think this means that girls can dress any way they like without being labelled. Had is pictures with drag queens, in reference to her being really into LGBT rights and I think this is good because they should have equal rights the same as everyone else.
Stormy's rap is all about empowering women and how they are as strong as men and can hold their own. He says that "When them boys play it cool and say power's for a king, you just play it cool and tell them power's not a thing". Here he is saying that women should not be put down by men and that they can achieve. The video also features their mums and I like this.
Overall I really like the video because I find it inspiring and it makes me want to sing and dance!
