On the day of my visit the parsonage looked very beautiful and it was a lovely sunny day for the celebrations. Inside the parsonage was like going back in time. It was amazing. It was as though the Bronte's still lived there. Everything seemed to be just as it was when they lived there.
There were lots of things going on for Charlotte's 200th Birthday and one of the things I enjoyed most was the tea and cake in the old school house which is near to the parsonage. Charlotte used to teach there. There were lots of different acts on stage, playing music, reading poetry and acting out scenes from some of Charlotte's books. I really enjoyed them all.
There was some new things being exhibited at the museum that different artists had put together especially for the celebrations. These sections were called 'Charlotte Great and Small' My favourite was by Serena Partridge and was in Charlotte's room. Serena made some small gloves, shoes a handkerchief and some other personal objects which she imagined would be items from moments in Charlotte's life.
We also went to see the replica of the parsonage that was being built on Penistone Hill for the BBC drama being filmed about the Bronte family. It is called 'To Walk Invisible' and is by award winning Sally Wainwright. It was filmed in Haworth in May 2016. It is due to be shown on television in December 2016.
My sister and I enjoyed dressing up in some of the old clothes in the museum too.
I learnt so much about the Bronte family that day. I am really looking forward to watching the drama that is on in December.
It was a fantastic day and I was pleased to be celebrating Charlotte's birthday with my family and lots of other people. I think Charlotte would have enjoyed it too.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed my review.
