Job Description
The purpose of the Youth Dance Ambassador role is to:
- establish new connections and engagement with young people not previously involved in dance in Herefordshire and Worcestershire;
- support DDLG to represent a wider range of dance styles/forms and cultural backgrounds;
- ensure that young people are at the heart of everything DDLG does.
Dancefest is hosting this role, so as well as working with the DDLG, you'll have the support of the Dancefest team.
Timeframe: January - March 2023
Fee: £1,280 (based on 4 days equivalent each month) plus travel allowance of £200.
Job Requirements
You will be / have:
- Passionate about getting more young people involved in dance participation and contributing to DDLG ambition to be national and international leaders in integrated inclusive dance practice
- Excellent dance leadership skills, with experience of working with young people.
- Entrepreneurial and a good creative thinker and problem solver - it's not easy getting peoples' attention when they lead busy lives so you will also need to be resourceful, resilient and persistent in pursuing your objectives
- A good communicator, confident to work in multiple modes including in person, voice/video call, social media, email and flexible to explore different modes for different people.
- Ability and interest in gathering and sharing intelligence through one to one and group encounters
- Confidence to engage with young people, youth dancer leaders / organisers, and dance participation professionals
- Organised and self-motivated; a great team player who is reliable and punctual.
Job Responsibilities

The role
- You will be supported to develop an ambitious and achievable action plan for connecting with young people not currently involved in dance and to build relationships across dance forms.
- You will take part in DDLG network meetings, a programme of skills sharing and professional development workshops and contribute to your nearest sub-regional network meetings
- You will join the Senior Ambassadors and DDLG steering group in fortnightly online meetings to set and monitor goals / progress. You will work closely with the sub-regional network hub convenor (Dancefest) and membership group to understand the existing relationships.
