Artist Commission

Burn the Curtain are offering a new Artist Commission!

Artist Commission

Micro Commission for four artists based in the South West area to create a piece each for their outdoor events in Exeter - The Imaginarium of Us.

Their four themes for this year's event are The Natural World, History, Youth and Hidden Stories. Each artist would pick one theme and work with one community group.

The Imaginarium of Us is an outdoor promenade museum taking place in three of Exeter Valley Parks -  Mincinglake, Ludwell, and Riverside in September and October this year.

Part walk, part performance, and part exhibition, The Imaginarium of Us is all about Exeter, and about their relationship to its history, people and landscapes.

This will be the second year of The Imaginarium of Us, following on from last year's successful run (details at www.burnthecurtain.co.uk) The Imaginarium is an outdoor participatory museum celebrating the Green Circle parks of Exeter, and the communities that live nearby.

Art works created for the event could come from any discipline (performance based artists should note that the work is durational) and should be strong enough to be displayed outdoors for a number of nights, and ideally be of a participatory nature, either with the visiting audience, or made in part with the community..

HOW TO APPLY

Please send CV with some examples of your work to [email protected]

From there, they will then select 10 artists to write a short response to a brief created by the community, before picking four to make the work alongside the community.

DEADLINE FRIDAY JULY 1st

FEE £2000  To include materials, two community workshops and creating the artwork for The Imaginarium of Us by mid September 2022
