Review for Voice at Brighton Fringe!

What's it all about?

This May, we'll be travelling down to Brighton to cover the Fringe...the comedy shows, theatre shows, street acts, mime acts - you name it, we'll be covering it.

brightonfringe.org

But, with such a big event, we're looking for more writers on the streets throughout the month. If you live in the Brighton or Hove area, or know that you'll be in Brighton between 6th May and 5th June 2016, we'd love to hear from you.

Who are we looking for?

You must be passionate about performance. You must have a critical mind, and be excited about discovering and analysing new and experimental shows. We are looking for young writers who can submit work to a tight schedule (publishing reviews the day of, or one day after each show) and who are great time-keepers, making sure that you arrive on time to shows.

You must also be aged 13-25 (please note, if you're under 18 you won't have access to 18+ shows and if you're under 16 you need your parents' approval to participate).

What will you get?

You will receive a two complimentary press tickets to each show that you choose to attend. Once we have confirmed our group of Brighton Fringe Reporters we will release the available tickets on a first come, first serve basis.

You will also have a 'Brighton Fringe Voice Reviewer' flag on your account, and your reviews will be posted out on our SM channels, with your Twitter handle if you have an account.

Your work will receive a professional edit by one of Voice's editors, which will be a fantastic learning experience for any keen young writers or journalists.

The writer of the most read review from the festival period will receive a £75 prize (redeemable as iTunes, Odeon or Love2Shop vouchers).

How to apply

To apply, send a sample review (that has been written by yourself) of any live show to the Voice Editor, [email protected].

Please include your full name, age and location. If you are under 16 please confirm that you have parental permission, and provide contact details for a parent or supervisor.

Reviews should be kept to around 500 words. If you'd like to find writing inspiration you can check out our reviews here. artsawardvoice.com/magazine/reviews

Our deadline for applications is 10 April 2016.

Got questions?

Please don't hesitate to email the editor at [email protected]
