Wolverhampton Samaritans release charity single ‘At Christmas’

Samaritans pride themselves in giving those in dire need of a sympathetic ear someone to talk to, and have been working hard to combat mental illness and isolation through their phone-in services.

Being someone who struggles mentally, I have found that Samaritans are an incredibly helpful charity to connect with when feeling down or at risk of hurting yourself. The Wolverhampton facet of the charity intends to further their own reach and awareness of Samaritans as a whole with their new Christmas single, aptly titled ‘At Christmas’, which is an originally composed song.

Usually, the group from the Wolverhampton Samaritans spend time over their Christmas period singing in places such as the local train station, shopping centres, and various other locations around the city and black country area. This year however, they decided to go a step further, by recording an all new Christmas single to help their fundraising efforts and increase the charity’s awareness, at a time where people need to feel a sense of community the most.

The charity is on phone lines 24/7, answering calls and emails from those reaching out for someone who will listen. Christmas is such an important time to look after your own mental health, as well as those who might be struggling around you. Samaritans want to share the message that no one should feel lonely this Christmas, and that they will be there for anyone who needs it, at any time of day or night.

The upbeat festive song was written in conjunction with a local recording studio, and is now available everywhere you can find music, including Spotify, Youtube, and Apple Music. You can listen to the track, and watch Wolverhampton Samaritans’ music video for ‘At Christmas’ below.
