One to One with Kezia Larkum

What did you do:

We created a piece of mixed media artwork using different shapes cut out from paper and different materials like ribbons, fabrics and paper. It has different colours and textures all over the piece.

Where did you do this:

With my sister Keziah at my house, I provided refreshments and all the art materials.

The class took place in our school room and the kitchen was used for refreshments.

When did you take part and who took part with you:

Keziah took part on the 23/6/18. We started at 2pm and my siblings took part with the class then Keziah helped me after the class finished and gave me some top tips on how to improve my art piece. Keziah was also kind enough to leave some positive feedback on my final piece.

Did you do research in advance?(if you used the internet state please also state the sites you visited, insert original evidence eg fliers, photographs of posters etc

Describe your experience:

I spent about an hour with keziah doing a piece of art using different materials.

Keziah has previously done multiple pieces of art like rag rugging and paper crafts.

It was interesting to see the different ideas she had for the piece of artwork and how she put it all together. To create the finished piece.

Did you learn anything new:

I learnt how to combine materials well, even if they are completely different.

I became better at listening to other peoples opinion and letting them take control.

Research one artist who you have worked with:

researching Keziah:

What do they do - or create:

Keziah creates different styles of collage using paper, paints, fabrics and more.

She has created multiple impressive pieces that are different from most other artists. Also she creates rag rugging floor mats.

Why did you choose to study them, what makes them so interesting to you:

I like the way keziah does her artwork, she does lots of research on what she would like to create. She works really hard on the finishing touches of her art which really makes it pop of the canvas.

Did they influence your own artistic development, tell me how:

Keziah has influenced me with her art by using different shapes  and inspired me to add different materials to my art work and use the materials I have to hand in different ways to create different things.

Where will you research:

I will look on google,

Did you find any information about them when they were young?  Tell me anything interesting:

Keziah was homeschooled when she was young so she had the time to work her hardest on a piece, Keziah was one of 9 children and lived in ibstock she went to school when she was 14.

Did you find any information about their career/training paths?  Tell me anything interesting:

Keziah went to multiple art classes like rag rugging and painting classes which built her skills as an artist, this has helped her in the future to combine her skills to create beautiful mixed media pieces.

You have learnt a lot by reviewing this artist, has anything influenced your plans and/or your arts practice:

While interviewing Keziah she was saying how she always has an open mind about her artwork, she says she uses other artists work to inspire her and try to see thing differently to create beautiful pieces.

List all the sources of information in a bibliography - include blog site references, and web site page references, and of course any book titles and magazine names.

Keziah Larkum has a blog containing her awards and her work for those awards, also she is on artsbox and displays her work.

Keziah displayed her artwork on artsbox inspiring other young artists
