The young lad takes no hostages and kills the show at the free Fringe. His jokes revolve around the sound recorder he uses to record sound bites and play back directly to the audience at the appropriate time.
Most of it was improvised which is good because his delivery felt natural, which people look for in stand up shows. That element of surprise is what really sold it to me.
Everyone is on board to see Mat demonstrate his acts for a talent show happening at the pie factory where he works. For most of the time you expect everything to have been planned but no one expected for his glasses to break in the middle of a sketch. Asking someone to help him to tape his glasses on his face was one of the best moments I've witness all week.
The use of sound effects and audio added to the comedy. It was done well with almost perfect comedic timing and he even managed to make a parody of himself when the sound purposely announced the end of his trial with the software, truly funny.
This young comedian really knows how to woo a crowd. His boldness and bluntness really gets the crowd laughing and for that effort he deserves my applause.
