The only show I requested specifically this year to see was Nina Conti and she certainly did not disappoint. The show was a complete sell-out with no seat being spare; it was a squeeze but totally, totally worth it. Being a writer and trained in English it is not often that I am lost for words, but I honestly do not know how our language and lexicon is going to do this show justice.
If you know anything about Nina Conti, you will be able to tell me that she's a ventriloquist. If you have ever seen her, you will be able to tell me just how mind blowing her talents are. But, unless you saw her on August 8th 2015, you will not be able to tell me just what magic went on in Pleasance One. It is evident that improvisation is her forte, with the whole show comprising of this hugely impressive skill.
Coercing members of the audience up devised the show on stage, making each night unique to the people watching. Along with her she brought the infamous Monkey, her ever so slightly arrogant partner in crime (!) and a series of masks which were used to control whoever had the fortune of going up on stage. With Monkey by her side, the ever-brilliant Conti lived up to the hype, and was deserving of the much-extended audience applause.
If you're blessed enough to be able to find tickets this show is a must see. Hilarious, entertaining and gifted: Nina Conti.
