The Headless Population: A fantastic showing of our reality, by Catoriona Carswell

Short films are known to capture the heart and minds of its viewers, and Catoriona Carswell's piece, reflecting our mobile mad world, does so beautifully. It juxtaposes the pure natural world that surrounds us to the technology that has encroached our lives. This piece has been wonderfully created, with soothing music and a fantastic art style showcasing the prominence of the message of the piece ‘Life only happens when you look up’. No longer does dystopian novels like George Orwells 1984 seem so far away, in fact this piece, which was created for the BBC series New creatives, provided support to upcoming artists across the UK. Seems to suggest that the dystopian fiction we once read has become our harsh reality.
