ALADDIN at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre

It's pantomime time again in Wolverhampton, and this year I went along to the press night to experience the magical show that is ALADDIN.

The Aladdin pantomime is full of talented artists and stars. Zoe Birkett (West End, Pop Idol, TV star) as Spirit of the Ring, Michael Greco (EastEnders Beppe Di Marco) as Abanazar, Ben Cajee (CBeebies) as Aladdin and returning favourites Tam Ryan as Wishee Washee, Iain Adams as Dame Dot Twankey and Wolverhampton’s own Sofie Anné as Princess Jasmine.

Zoe Birkett was very glamorous as SPIRIT OF THE RING, a real highlight who wowed the audience with her exceptional vocals and performance skills. She spectacularly opened the show with lots of energy and enthusiasm to an amazing musical number and held the show together, definitely an asset to this production and one of the best West End stars performing in pantomime this year.

Aladdin, produced by the theatre in association with Evolution Productions, had a lovely set, bright lighting, and top sound projection. LED digital screen technology helped in bringing this tale of Aladdin even more life with magical moments featured in the show. All the cast were incredible with a variety of different talents coming from all the different performers. It is entertainment for all to enjoy.

The comedy routines between Tam Ryan and Iain Adams were really funny and they both had great comedic timing and humor with strong stage presence. They worked well together and involved the audience with comedy interaction which the audience loved.

Popular song choices were covered as well as a great musical-based routine from Tam and Iain which got everyone singing along.

This beautiful theatre is a wonderful venue to stage this production and I would recommend this show to anyone wanting to see a pantomime this Christmas. DON’T MISS IT!

ALADDIN is running until Saturday 7th January 2023.
