Calling all artists in Cumbria

To showcase some of the exceptional creativity in Cumbria, Artful Ways is offering five paid commissions, with applications open to anyone living in Cumbria.

Calling all artists in Cumbria

While Artful Ways invites everyone who takes part to share a piece of creative work that may be selected for the touring exhibition, the paid ‘My Artful Ways’ commissions provide an opportunity to spend additional time planning, reflecting and crafting a more substantial piece. At the end of June, 4 artists were chosen for these commissions and at the end of July, one artist was selected for the ‘Artful Cumbria’ commission, and will create work through their reflection on all the contributions to the project.

The commissioned artists and creative practitioners bring a range of perspectives, processes and styles, and it’s hugely exciting to have them on board. Their work will be shared in the touring exhibition, alongside contributions from individuals and groups around Cumbria, in an eclectic collection that will represent the county’s rich diversity of practice, voice, culture and landscape. Artful Ways are anticipating an inspiring collection of contemporary responses to place that celebrates Cumbria’s creative community, and reveals the potential for moving Cumbria’s creative and cultural heritage forwards.

For more on submitting your own artwork, in any medium, to be shared on the Artful Ways website and as part of the public contributions for the touring exhibition, visit the Submissions page.
