Rose Theatre is seeking to appoint an exceptional early career theatre director to be our next Peter Hall Emerging Artist Fellow. This is a part-time fixed term position averaging four days per week for one year commencing in mid/late August 2023. The Rose was founded by Sir Peter Hall, and this Fellowship in his memory is designed to support the development of future generations of directors.
They will be attentive to the successful candidates own creative and personal interests and will do their best to ensure that the position is as fulfilling as possible. This position is ideally suited to someone who has future aspirations to be an artistic director and for whom the breadth of experience this role offers beyond just the rehearsal room will be exciting and engaging.
They do not anticipate that the successful candidate will direct a show with us during their year as Fellow, however they hope that this will be the start of a longer-term creative relationship and we will be open to discussing future projects for beyond the year itself.
You will have regular access to the Artistic Director Christopher Haydon and will be able to shadow him or deputise for him where appropriate, and you will work in the Producing team. There will also be the opportunity to work with our large Learning and Participation Department under the guidance of L&P Director Lucy Morrell.
