The verdict comes in the midst of ongoing legal action rules against Apple’s desire to prohibit third-party in-app purchases that bypass their cut of in-app payments.

The Chinese tech conglomerate’s offer to purchase the British video game developer values the company at £913 million, with Tencent already owning Riot Games (League of Legends) and holding a large stake in Epic Games (Fortnite).

The case, originating from a complaint made in 2019 by Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek, relates to ‘Apple’s rules distort[ing] competition’ in the music streaming market, and could force the tech giant to change its App Store policies as a result.
