Colin Cloud is indescribably brilliant. He has been dubbed by many as the real-life Sherlock Holmes, but I’m pretty sure he’s actually a mind reader. Not even Sherlock Holmes could possibly know the embarrassing memories that members of the audience are thinking of, or the dreams and nightmares written on bits of paper by people as they come in and never once seen by him.
I also think he’s psychic, because there’s no other way he’d know everything about the random people from the audience (all of whom are chosen by the audience) who end up participating in the show, and all of their seat numbers, in order. The feats he performs are completely mind-boggling and utterly fascinating, and I loved every single second of the show.
Cloud is also a natural performer, incorporating just the right amount of humour, suspense and intrigue into the show. He’ll also scare the pants off you, trust me on that.
Sceptics will read this and think I’m naive; that I’ve been duped and it’s all been set up beforehand; that he has a team of people scouring the audience’s social media accounts and feeding him information throughout the show. To those people I say, go and see the show yourself. If, after an hour of genuinely inexplicable feats, you can remain a sceptic, I applaud you. Because I certainly can’t.
Colin Cloud: Psycho(Logical) is on at 20:00 at Pleasance Courtyard until August 27th, excluding the 14th. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the EdFringe website.
