Dick and Dom: Dick v Dom

A brilliant show for kids and adults alike

Dick and Dom: Dick v Dom

Dick and Dom have been entertaining children for two decades, and it’s not hard to see why in this brilliant gameshow that sees them face each other down in eight rounds of ridiculous challenges - helped by a few audience members, of course. Crowdsurfing, YMCA dance-offs and musical splatues see the whole audience on their feet dancing, shouting and booing as it become clear that the adults in the room care about the competition just as much - and in some cases even more - than the children.

Even uncompetitive parents won't be watching the clock in this one though, because there’s bucket loads of adult humour to keep you entertained. I mean, word play is already pretty easy, given their names, but the addition of a Nina Conti-style mask on an unwitting dad and some magic tricks involving squishy balls creates some unforgettable lines that will (hopefully) fly straight over your little ones’ heads.

It’s a big venue, but Dick and Dom have no problem filling the space, and, with the help of their trusty referee Mr Prank, make sure everyone is included in the fun, no matter where they’re sitting. It’s an hour of pure joy, and you don’t even need kids as an excuse to go; I wasn’t the only student in the audience reliving my childhood!

And if that’s not enough, I’ve never been in a kids’ show where I’ve been not only allowed but actively encouraged to chant ‘dicks’ before. If that doesn’t make you want to go, I don't know what will.

Dick and Dom: Dick v Dom is on at 13:00 at Underbelly, Bristo Square until August 12th. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the EdFringe website
