Alfie Brown had a one night stand last year, and like all one night stands, he didn't plan to talk to her again. However, in his words he left it is for an 'inappropriately long time', and a baby was created.
Over the course of an hour Alfie explained how his relationship came to be as a result of this baby. He also detailed, in a surprisingly graphic (yet comedic) fashion, the birthing process. The uncomfortable squirming of the men next to me was almost as funny as the story itself. Also covered was life as a father, and the influence television has on our lives.
Alfie Brown's observational humour was on point, and at times hit worryingly close to home. His interaction with the audience was great, and asked the very taboo question of who we voted for in the election. There was a very brave member who confessed to voting Conservative, purely for raising the Inheritance Tax threshold. I'm sure you can imagine what kind of response that got.
Alfie Brown has fantastic comedic timing, brilliant stage presence and content that was genuinely hilarious. The show, like most, had a few flat points, but for the overwhelming majority it was sidesplittingly hilarious. Just the right blend of awkward, crass, truthful and emotionally manipulative.
Definitely one to check out!
