Grammy-Nominated Producer Jerry Folk Releases Nostalgic Single and Video 'Better Days'

Grammy-nominated producer Jerry Folk, known for his genre-defying music, has teamed up with his secondary alias, FENGSEL, to release his latest single and accompanying video, 'Better Days'.

The captivating track, which combines influences from medieval sounds, UK punk, and '90s breakbeat music, marks an exciting new direction for the Norwegian artist. With a reputation for crafting unique and diverse musical experiences, Jerry Folk continues to push his creative boundaries.

Jerry Folk's musical journey has been characterized by his refusal to be confined to a single genre. Inspired by the likes of James Blake, Sevdaliza, Sbtrkt, Kaytranada, and Flume, his music draws from a wide range of influences. With remixes for acclaimed artists such as Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth, and Oh Wonder, and production work for Alina Baraz, Axwell Ingrosso, and Lemaitre, Jerry Folk has demonstrated his versatility as a producer.

Released via Folkestad Recordings, 'Better Days' is a nostalgic journey that resonates with listeners. The music video, which accompanies the single, follows the life of a boy who grows into a teenager and eventually becomes a man. As we witness his interests evolve from playing to drawing and listening to music, the video elicits a sense of longing for the days gone by—the so-called "better days" of youth. This wistful sentiment is beautifully complemented by the track's atmospheric and emotive soundscapes.

The release of 'Better Days' follows Jerry Folk's successful EP, Castle Tapes, and his debut album, Dotted Red, both of which received nominations for the Norwegian Grammy Awards. Having accumulated over 350 million streams across platforms, Jerry Folk's music has captivated listeners worldwide. His ability to explore diverse musical directions while maintaining a signature upbeat and melodic style has earned him a devoted following.

Reflecting on the creation of 'Better Days', Jerry Folk shared insights into his artistic process. He revealed that the track was conceived in Los Angeles alongside his previous EP, Castle Tapes. Drawing inspiration from medieval sounds, UK punk, and '90s breakbeat music, he aimed to find a unique middle ground between these influences. Jerry Folk's collaboration with his FENGSEL alias adds an extra dimension to the track, allowing him to explore new creative territories within the FENGSEL universe.
