The Observer/Andy Burgess prize 2021 open for entries

The Observer/Andy Burgess prize celebrates Burgess' career writing arts criticism for the newspaper and aims to inspire and motivate a new generation of writers and critics.

Whether you engage with a live stream, book, exhibition, film or concert, this competition welcomes entries from a wide range of art forms as long as the art has been created since 1 September 2019. The goal is to write a lively, thought-provoking and contemplative piece.

The first prize is £3,000 and the winning entry will be published in the print edition of the Observer New Review and online at theguardian.com. Two runners up will each receive £50 and have their work published online.
