Vital Youth Theatre (formerly Windmill Young Actors Hastings) offers inclusive and accessible drama classes for young people aged 8-18. With a focus on acting and devising, the groups create opportunities for children and young people to develop their self-expression, grow their confidence and find their unique creative voice within the world of the performing arts.
Teaching Assistant
Vital Youth Theatre (Hastings) is seeking a dynamic, ambitious Teaching Assistant with practical drama experience for Saturday morning (10-12) sessions with 8-12 year olds during term time (11 weeks per term).
Pay is £13.50 per hour paid on a freelance basis.
VYT is keen to mentor and support the right person within this role with future possibilities including Tutoring groups and Directing pieces.
Responsibilities include:
- Taking the register at the start of each session and signing children out at the end of the session.
- Supporting the Lead Tutor as needed.
- Running some warm up games and activities (being supported by Lead Tutor).
- Supervising children during breaks.
- Light stage management duties during end of term showcases and performances.
- Helping to support young people's creative work.
- General care of the young people during the session.
You will:
- Have a DBS on the update service.
- Be able to work collaboratively and independently.
- Have a good level of practical drama experience.
- Be confident in supporting young people's own creative work in developing scenes and characters.
- Be responsible and reliable with excellent timekeeping.
- Have an ambition within the performing arts industry with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Be registered as self-employed and prepared to invoice VYT monthly.
