About this event

Ends: Wednesday 23 November 2022 2:00 PM

At: Instagram Live

Ed Shamwana is in his final year at the Guilford School of Arts (GSA) studying BA acting, and will join us Wednesday 23 November at 13:00.

Having spent the last 10 months as one of two student EDI representatives at the school, he is hugely passionate about the diversification within drama schools and the industry.

Now in his final year at the school, he is looking forward to entering the industry and with any luck entering the stage door too!

A guest on the 'Surrey Speaks' podcast, Ed had a really great chat where he opened up the beginnings of a conversation surrounding the diversity in the industry and the work which needs to be done to open it up more and create a more inclusive space within it.

"It was really important to me that it was an honest conversation so we didn’t skirt around the issues at hand and I think managed to have a really honest and open dialogue about what is going well and where the failures are! I can kind of talk about it till the cows come home!"

Ed will talk to us about his experience at GSA and continue the conversation around diversity in drama school, the industry, and share his experience.

See you then :)
