14-year-old Alfie was nominated for TrinityTalent 2020 for his achievements in drumming. He achieved his Grade 1 Drums exam with distinction with Progress Music Academy, Birmingham.

Alfie was selected by the Youth Choice panel to feature as a Youth Choice for the Rock & Pop category. They said: "It's amazing to have that passion for music even before he started having lessons, and very impressive to balance learning an instrument with part-time work. Alfie is clearly passionate and very inspirational. We loved that he was so keen to get cracking with his Grade 2 and shows excellent self-motivation. The sheer determination to raise money to learn is just incredible!"

Alfie was nominated by his Grandfather, who said: "As the oldest of four children, Alfie decided he needed to look for part-time work to pay for his drum kit and lessons. Alfie secured a weekend paper round and began saving and, given his commitment, I offered to match fund his earnings. By August 2019 Alfie had earned enough to buy an electric drum kit and start online lessons. He was entered for the Grade 1 exam in March 2020 and passed with a distinction which was a real testament to his determination to be a drummer, to fund his kit and his lessons."

The Trinity judges commented: "Alfie has shown a great determination and desire to learn and a has demonstrated a strong self-motivation to pursue drums."
