15-year-old Yoni completed his digital exam with his music teacher Gareth Siggins. He is constantly developing his music tastes and enjoys learning as much as he does the practice.

Yoni was nominated for TrinityTalent by his drum teacher Gareth Sigginsof Professional Play Music, who said: "Yoni completed his Digital Grade 8 Rock & Pop Drum exam over lockdown and gained a distinction. Yoni is a rising talent in the UK and has proven to be a maestro powerhouse in my drumming school 'Professional Play Music.' This achievement has given Yoni so much confidence, and he has secured the lead drummer role in his rock and jazz orchestra for school performances. Congratulations,Yoni, and thank you for your hard work and attention to detail in your performances."

The TrinityTalent panel said: "We can clearly see how Yoni has progressed with his performance techniques. His precision to control complex time signatures is notable, and his progression is impressive. Keep up the great work, Yoni!"

How do you feel about being selected to be part of TrinityTalent ‘Class of 2021’ and being recognised in this way?

I am very thankful to my teacher Gareth Siggins for supporting me through achieving my Grade 8. I have loved every minute of playing the drums since I was a young boy, and I am thankful to all who have supported me along the way.

How do you feel you have developed creatively and artistically in 2021?

I have studied many different skills and techniques with Gareth. I look forward to using grooves from a multitude of new styles - from 6/8 Afro-Cuban to Latin - in my wider playing.

What impact did your Trinity qualification have on your artistic development?

In studying for my Grade 8, I learned many new styles and complicated grooves. I have certainly gained confidence and wider knowledge of new styles.

Has taking part in a Trinity qualification helped you to develop wider skills, such as communication skills, creativity or confidence?

Absolutely! There was so much to learn to achieve the qualification, and I look forward to using what I have learned.

If you took a digital music or drama exam, please tell us how you found the experience of recording your performance

Painful! But in a good way! I did not stop until it was perfect, so I spent many, many hours in front of the recording camera. I'm sure I really annoyed my family.

What are the next steps for you artistically and creatively in 2022?

I am trying to form a band with a few of my peers at school. Hopefully, we can create some good music. I would like to give teaching someone the drums a go. Maybe even if the opportunity came up to record something for someone, I would put myself forward.

What are your longer term aims, for example for your future studies or work?

I am currently looking at new styles and songs for my diploma whilst studying various jazz and samba grooves and techniques.

Have you got any advice for other young people working towards a Trinity qualification?

Practise, practise, practise. If you try hard enough, there is nothing you cannot achieve.

Is there anything creative you're currently working on you'd like to tell us about?

My friends and I are trying to start a band - no one can think of a name though!
