Ardenne Smith | TrinityTalent 2019

Ardenne was nominated by her parent for her outstanding progress made in Rock and Pop. They said 'Having drummed from the age of 6, Ardenne has overcome challenges with increasing maturity and persevered in order to reach her goals. Creatively, she has challenged herself and will happily work outside of her comfort zone in order to progress even further. Ardenne practices most evenings, homework permitting, and looks forward to the "Turn It Up" Rockschool at Fleet Arts each year where she teams up with fellow musicians to create songs and perform them.'

In what ways would you say your Rock and Pop qualification has influenced your artistic achievement, creativity, leadership or progress?

My Trinity grades always give me a sense of achievement and a boost in confidence. The choice of songs is always varied and working through all of the songs during my lessons challenges me and pushes me forward in my drumming.  In fact, it is sometimes difficult to decide which three songs I will end up playing for my exam! I enjoy drumming in the school band and in other bands to but it is the Trinity grades that drive me forward, develop my creativity and the progress that I make is rewarding.

How has participating in an Rock and Pop qualification impacted your artistic skills or career development?

Working through the Trinity grades has definitely helped to develop my creativity. I particularly like the variety of genres in each grade book as playing them helps to broaden my skill set.  This has opened up drumming new opportunities for me.

What's next for you?

I am now working through my grade 7. I am enjoying the songs and looking forward to taking my exam.

What are your career aims?

Career wise, it is difficult to say as I am only 14.  However, I would like to think that drumming will definitely feature in my future career. Trinity grades are enjoyable and challenging. I love it when I pass an exam and receive my certificate.  I also like that Trinity Awards are respected and recognised.
