Matilda the Musical review by Roan McAuley

Love your introduction! What a great way to set the scene for the musical you were about to watch. I could feel your excitement. Your synopsis of Matilda is concise and intriguing! This is a well written review. Your description of the scenes ,with the girl being swung around by pigtails and the magic of them writing on the blackboard unseen, set the reader up for the spectacle they would see if they could be so fortunate to attend the musical themselves. For those of us unable to attend, it created a visual in our heads so that we could appreciate the "magic" without seeing it for ourselves.
Choosing to include in your review how the musical had a profound affect on your life is a nice way to show relevance for what you were viewing. It's wonderful to be inspired in our own life by those things we see and hear!
I would recommend that you re-read your reviews before posting and get a friend or family member to help act as editor. It always helps to have a second pair of eyes read your review before posting. In this review, you repeat a section near the end that is more-or-less the same as stated earlier in the review. It appears to be a case of simply just removing the duplicated statements.
I will leave the same comment here as I did for "Adrian Mole the Musical". Having read both of these reviews back-to-back, it was clear the format you used in writing up these reviews. This isn't wrong as an outline is important when getting your thoughts down. I would recommend that you find ways to rephrase ideas that you wish to use again rather than using the exact same words. In your lifetime, you may find yourself fortunate to write many, many reviews. It's important that you stay as fresh and creative as the pieces you are reviewing! (Yes, I realize that I'm asking you not to just copy and paste words when I just did it with this paragraph for two of your reviews!)

Adrian Mole the Musical review by Roan McAuley

Excellent review of the "Adrian Mole the Musical." You did a nice job of giving the background of the musical and giving us enough information to decide if we would be interesting in seeing this musical for ourselves. I like that you noted that you were "intrigued to see that there was a musical especially because in my opinion the story did not lend itself to musicality."
Though, as you pointed out, this is a loose adaptation and not a direct adaptation from book to stage! It would helpful to move your sentence, "I learnt that you can change a story to make it a more accessible to a younger audience as the Adrian Mole books are not child friendly. This musical is a good example of that", up further in your review where you talk about being annoyed that it doesn't follow the original story line. This lets the reader know why the storyline was changed. I would also suggest re-reading the review and editing out a few redundant statements.
Your personal notes were insightful (expensive, long journey) - especially if someone outside of London is hoping to see the show - and I love that the show inspired you to learn more about musicals and to start keeping a diary.

PLAGIARISM IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY by Roan McAuley

What a fantastic topic to talk about! This has broad appeal to many within and outside of the industry. I think of how many times I've heard a song come on the radio and then mistaken it for another song! You did a wonderful job in your blog explaining some of the nuances of the law and gave several good examples on how the law has been applied in different cases. You concluded your blog with a strong opinion based on the ideas presented within the body of the piece. Overall, a very well written blog.

How wonderful to hear about a local band that is as prolific as they have been in their career. "Eight studio albums, one compilation album, four live albums and three videos." That is quite the accomplishment! Plus, the fact that you heard them three years ago and were able to still see them in concert in 2018 - with another concert coming up in 2021. Wonderfully devoted fans like yourself that keep them going. It was interesting to hear how his songs are inspired from his childhood and how he likes to entertain the crowd with stories. I'm glad he is an inspiration to you! I would recommend that you revise the last portion of your review. You have some repeating thoughts from earlier in the article. A word processing error more than a writing error (I would suspect)!

Bryan Adams Concert Review by Roan McAuley
Comment posted on 1 January 2021
Your enthusiasm for Bryan Adams shines through on this review! If I wasn't already familiar with him as a musician, you certainly would have inspired me to buy one of his CD's (or, yes, just download an album or two!). He is a fantastic musician and an icon of his time. I'm happy for you that you were able to attend his concert and that he's been such a big influence on your own musical journey.

Excellent interview. Having read quite a few of your interviews now of different people in the music profession, I appreciate the wide range of people you interview. While the questions are always similar, you are always knowledgeable about the artists and are able to ask questions specific to that artists. It is clear from your interviews that you have a strong interest in those you are interviewing. That has shone through in this interview here with Jenni Pinnock. This interview was enjoyable to read.
