Summer Showcase

Utopia/Dystopia: Reimagining the climate crisis

Voice Magazine is delighted to announce the return of the Summer Showcase, and this time we're looking at the climate crisis, and what you think the future has in store for the Earth, and humanity.

Will we pull together, learn how to decarbonise the atmosphere and clean the oceans, leading humankind to a new, clean utopia? Or will resource exploitation only increase, with those most responsible just hopping on a rocket to Mars, leaving behind a planet ravaged? We want your thoughts!

Whether you’re an artist, musician, poet, graphic designer or multidisciplinary artist, we want to hear from you. All artforms are welcome, meaning you can use any method to capture and communicate your optimism or pessimism for the future of the climate crisis.

This year we are also introducing two categories for you to submit to, depending on where you are in your creative journey – Experimental and Established.

Key Information

Who are we looking for?

We will accept submissions from young people under 25. No matter your art form, as long as it translates on an online platform, and responds to the theme of Utopia/Dystopia: Reimagining the climate crisis, we want to see it.

When is the deadline?

Submissions are currently open until 23:59 on Aug 28.

How do I submit my entry?

All entries will need to be emailed to [email protected] by the deadline. Alongside your entry, you will need to fill out the form below, specifying which category your entry belongs in. Please note the following restrictions:

  • Multimedia must be no more than 5 minutes in length
  • Written content must be less than 1,000 words
  • All entries must be in keeping with our House Rules

What are the categories?

This year, we have introduced two categories: Experimental and Established. The Experimental category is for those who are entering as hobbyists, or are new to the artform and just want to play around with new skills. The Established category is for entrants who have been professionally trained in their art form or are working artists in their chosen discipline.

Each shortlisted submission will be judged by industry professionals yet to be announced. One winner and one runner-up from each category will be chosen. The winner will get a £50 voucher of their choice, and the runner-up will receive a £15 voucher of their choice.

Each submission will be showcased on our site and viewed by our thousands of readers and creative partners. So whether you win in your category or not, your work will be seen and celebrated.
