The Museum of Contemporary Art australia contains a lot of interesting, modern art. it is quite large, so there is a lot of artwork there. I liked most of the art there because there was lots of colour and everything was unique. However, I also found quite a lot of the art to be bland and a bit confusing because I don't really understand why it is in an art gallery full of amazing art, and it seemed quite 'pointless' to me.
Even though the art there was good, i wouldn't recommend going there, especially with children, because because it wasn't very overly child friendly. Art galleries will usually have something fun for young children to do as they wander around with their parents, but this place only had one room for kids and parents don't want to go to an art gallery and stay in just that one room with their child the majority of the time; you aren't allowed to let your child stay in that room for a bit while you walk around because children have to be accompanied by an adult at all times, as they may wounder into a section with 'rude' art, which, although they claim to be child friendly, doesn't seem very child friendly to me. In addition, the staff just stood around the art but didn't actually tell you anything about the art, like i expected them to, and they didn't put themselves across as approachable. They were more there to say where you can't go and not to touch the art, which i can understand, but they still didn't do it in an overly friendly manner which, for me, made the whole experience a whole lot less enjoyable.
I would give this place two stars out of five just because the staff weren't particularly friendly and it wasn't an atmosphere where i felt i could just relax and enjoy the art and art should be fun.
It's shame that your experience was let down this way...
