My Bed - Tracey Emin

My review of My Bed by Tracey Emin at the Turner Contemporary

My Bed - Tracey Emin

My bed is a recreation of Tracey Emin's bed after a break up that changed her life immensely. It was originally in her Waterloo Council flat. We went to see it in the Turner Contemporary.

At first I didn't understand what it was or meant because to me it just looked like a very messy bed, until I read the description and found out what it meant, and why it was so messy. Now that I know what it is, it is quite a different way of showing your feelings, and I like it. I enjoyed that it was unlike any art I had ever seen before. This instillation taught me that art is very varied and confusing.

I didn't like how when I looked at it , I was confused. “Why there was a messy bed in the middle of the room?” but it evoked a need for me to find out more.
