To set the scene. Gay pirates, naked bakers, Free Willy, french martial artists, and Annie Lennox. How do these all come together into one show? I don't know. I watched the show and after an hour I was no more enlightened as to what was going on. And I don't even care!
BEASTS are a trio sketch group, and the purpose of this show is to get a great recording of them performing, so it can be sent off to their new contact in Hollywood, America. This is a huge deal for them, and they will be pulling out all the stops to capture the best show on film. Or, at least, they will try.
What actually transpires is some of the most sidesplitting, pant wetting, rib cracking comedy I have witnessed in a long time. The whole crowd was laughing from start to finish; it was fantastic experience to be in.
I was actually exhausted after watching this show! The energy is explosive and contagious, and you'll spend the whole show riding an adrenaline rush. I was left in need of a nap when it was all over. I felt knackered and somewhat empty. The high was gone, and it was back outside to face the realities of work, crowds and rain. This is honestly the most fun I've had at Edinburgh so far, and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't see this show.
BEASTS: Live DVD is performing every day at Pleasance Courtyard until the 31st August. For tickets and more information, visit the Fringe website.
