Neon Dreams are that rarity of bands who have what it takes to make it big - a pop act with genuine authenticity and the drive to go all the way. Sophomore album The Happiness of Tomorrow sees them at their peak, spreading positivity and strength to those who may need it.
Recent single ‘House Party’ saw the duo travel back to lead singer Frank Kadillac’s high school days, attending house parties and thinking about the wider world for the first time as he began to heal from childhood traumas. A genuinely nostalgic trip, the poignant lyrics are paired with melancholic melodies which make this one a real tear jerker.
It’s not just in their lyrics that Neon Dreams find positivity in negative experiences. For Neon Dreams, COVID-19 shutting down the world was the catalyst for their sophomore album, The Happiness of Tomorrow. Though Frank Kadillac and Adrian Morris had dozens of songs written pre-pandemic, the title track was conceived in quarantine and became the spark for the rest of the project.
“This album wouldn’t have happened if we didn’t go into quarantine,” Kadillac admits. “I wouldn’t have had time to watch the movies or think about the thoughts that influenced it. I’m not happy all this happened, but I’m happy I had the time to think about my life and where I come from.”
It seems fitting that a band who are so passionate about encouraging their fans to keep on struggling through their darkest moments made what could be the album of their career during 2020 lockdown. A triumph.
